Jumuah Khutbah: Patience and Tawakkul

I delivered the khutbah yesterday at the West Side Masjid in Fairfield, Alabama.

The khutbah is generally about having patience and tawakkul and how they work together. I wrote about this subject before in my article “The Formula for Success.”

Within this khutbah, I also talk about Istikhaarah, Tafsir of Surah Al-Asr, and controlling one’s anger.

In this khutbah, I attempt to explain how Muslims should behave when faced with life’s difficulties. I say this with more clarity as I’m going through certain difficulties myself. I only hope this khutbah serves as a reminder to you to remain steadfast, patient, and put your trust in Allah.

One of my favorite Muslim speakers is Imam Siraj Wahaj. He is perhaps the most popular Khateeb in America. He does speak with fire and his devotion is evident in the work he supports.

His best talks were the ones he made during the late 90′s. He’s still a good speaker, no doubt about it. But I really liked his style during this period. It was more conciliatory, and laced with wisdom.
