What is The Caliphate?
The Islamic Caliphate was one of the greatest eras history has ever known. Unfortunately, so few people actually know about.
The Muslim Caliphs that succeeded after the death of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used their military intelligence, political savvy, and faith in Allah to spread the Islamic state from Spain to the borders of China.
And it all began with four courageous men. Four men who were the closest friends and companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Without the determination of these men, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali, there would be no Islamic Caliphate. Though they were not perfect, they were the most righteous of us all. And that is why Muslims today still refer to them as:
The Four Righteous Caliphs
The Caliphate is basically an inheritance; a succession. It is the succession of leadership and rule passed down from the Prophet (peace be upon him) to those that followed him.
The legacy of the Caliphate still rings true today. All over the globe, Muslims secretly and openly clamor for the return of the Caliphate.
But we don’t just want any despot or ruler who can claim this magnificent title; we want someone who will try to emulate the character, piety, and dedication of the first four Caliphs of Islam.
In this audio download, I discuss the lives of Al-Khulafah Ar-Rashidun, The Four Righteous Caliphs.
I begin this story with the death of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and how the Companions had to choose a new leader. From there, I talk about the struggles of Abu Bakr against the Murtad Rebels (The Wars of Apostacy) and the amazing feats of Khalid Ibn Waleed (may Allah be pleased with them both).
From there, I go on to the Caliphate of Umar Ibn Al-Khattab (RA). You’ll hear how Umar established a modern state as the borders of the Muslim Empire spread across two continents. The most fascinating parts are the peaceful conquest of Jerusalem, and the devotion Umar had to his subjects.
Then you’ll hear about the Caliphate of Uthman Ibn Affan and how the Muslim Empire began its descent towards civil war. I give extensive background information about the different players and what ultimately led up to Uthman’s assassination.
Finally, I talk about the sad details of the wars between Ali Ibn Abi Talib and Muawwiyah Ibn Abi Sufyan. This part highlights the origins of the Sunni-Shia split and you’ll learn which side the different companions took.
This is an epic story that history has ignored for too long. You are not going to want to miss this powerful and exciting talk about the Four Righteous Caliphs.
Only Allah knows if the Caliphate will return in our lifetimes. But whatever happens, it is our duty not to forget this amazing time in human history. A time when ordinary men, did extraordinary things.
